2. Day 2 · Hanoi

     Itinerary: • 07:25–08:00 – Hotel pick-up in the Hanoi Old Quarter / Opera House area, depart for Ninh Binh (pick-up time depends on your hotel location) • 09:15 – Short rest stop (15–20 minutes) • 10:15 – Visit Hoa Lu, ancient capital of Vietnam (968–1010), and cycle around the village to discover local life • 12:00 – Buffet lunch at a local restaurant with many Vietnamese dishes (goat meat, spring rolls, fish, chicken, fried rice, vegetable salad; vegetarian options always available) • 13:30 – Tam Coc 1.5-hour bamboo boat ride past paddy fields, river and caves • 15:30 – Mua Cave: climb almost 500 steps to the top of Lying Dragon Mountain for an amazing panoramic view, with lotus fields nearby (in summer) • 17:00 – Depart for Hanoi • 19:00–19:30 – Drop-off at your Hanoi hotel; tour ends Note: stops may be reordered depending on the day, but every site listed is visited.      Itinerary (times approximate): • 08:00–08:30 – Hotel pick-up in the Hanoi Old Quarter / Opera House area, depart for Ha Long Bay (pick-up time depends on your hotel location) • 10:00 – Short rest stop (15–20 minutes) • 11:30 – Arrive at Tuan Chau Marina and board the Emeraude; welcome drink as the boat sets sail • 12:30 – Lunch served on board while cruising past Finger Islet, Ga Choi (Fighting Cock) Islet, Lu Huong Islet (the one on the 200,000 VND note) and Stone Dog Islet • 14:00 – Visit Thien Cung Cave and its illuminated chambers • 15:00 – Cruise to Ba Hang fishing village; kayaking or a sampan rowing boat through the karsts • 16:30 – Return to Tuan Chau Marina and disembark • 17:00 – Depart for Hanoi • 19:30–20:00 – Drop-off at your Hanoi hotel; tour ends Note: the order of stops may change with the tide and weather, but every site listed is visited.
